What kind of tours and pranks have you and your family come up with this summer, Alexander?
- This summer has been rich in so many ways. Now we have already reached September and we have been on tour more or less since the middle of June until the start of school in August. So now it will be good to have a bit of everyday life again. This summer we went on a sailing trip and fished for crabs, and really enjoyed ourselves out in the Oslo Fjord. Due to a lot of rain, we chose to shorten the sailing trip and go to our cabin in the mountains instead. Here we did a lot of fishing and several shorter trips were adjusted down or removed from the plan. It was really nice to just be together up there in the cabin.
It sounds like a real nice holiday, and much easier than the 70-day family expedition you had last summer?
- Yes, we got a lot of quality time together in nature without the big trip plans. But we actually had a family expedition towards the end of this summer too.
Tell me more!
- It's no secret that the family has been on another family expedition this summer as well, but this time it's a little different because I can't tell much about the trip yet. The reason is that I have also filmed this expedition for a new TV documentary series. That's why I don't want to say too much just yet. But I can say something.
This expedition trip was quite different from several of our previous trips. Both those that the public has seen on TV, and several others we have carried out in recent years. We went to the northern part of Norway for this adventure and didn't move as much as we usually do. This time it was even more about being in and with nature under simpler conditions. Experience the simple life in nature without access to civilization with all the limitations and opportunities it gives us. It turned out to be a trip filled with rich and good days, but also tougher days that really required a lot from both small and large participants. In contrast to all other trips we have been on, I would say that this trip was so special that we'll probably do it only once.
You seem a little more apprehensive than I have experienced you after previous trips. Is there anything in it, Alexander?
- Yes, there is a slightly different experience and feeling in the body after this trip compared to many of my previous trips. This was probably the toughest trip my family and I have created together. And it also feels even more important than several of the other trips. I think I will take even more from this trip with me into my life than usual. I am in a process of processing everything right now. Because the trip was tough, it has been more demanding than usual to jump back into everyday life. There is a lot of preparation over a long time related to such a trip and now it is suddenly over. So I probably have some post-expedition feelings where it feels like an anti-climax to be finished - and then have to move on with everyday life. So I'm doing well, but I need some time and space to process this trip before I throw myself into the next projects.
Yes, speaking of future travel plans. Can you say something about them already?
- I don't want to say anything concrete now, no. What I can say, however, is that I have several large projects for the next two or three years. But I don't want to reveal exactly what kind of projects they are yet.
